Technology for precision provided by people with compassion.

Leaders in Experience, Technology & Compassion

As a recognized regional leader, the Cancer Institute at St. John's Hospital brings powerful resources to preventing and fighting cancer. We've assembled a dedicated team of progressive specialists using state-of-the-art treatment techniques and technology to provide comprehensive, personal care for patients and their families.

Cancer Care with a Team Approach

Multi-Specialty Oncology Committee provides oversight for today and leadership for tomorrow.

As a teaching hospital we have physicians and researchers who use a team approach to provide patients with cutting edge cancer therapies.  Patients at St. John's Hospital Cancer Institute have access to clinical researchers exploring leading-edge cancer-fighting treatments for adults and pediatric cancers.  As a research facility we exchange information with other cancer centers across the country.  We also maintain a cancer registry of more than 20,000 case studies of treatments and techniques. So our patients benefit from the knowledge and experience of leading cancer specialists, the latest in treatment techniques and insights from clinical trials. We are also a College of Surgeons Cancer Commission approved program.

St. John’s Children’s Hospital, the region's only designated Children's Hospital, takes special care of kids with cancer, too.  Pediatric oncologists at the Cancer Institute participate in nationwide clinical trial protocols from the Children’s Oncology Group to give our patients access to the same clinical research trials as other major children’s research hospitals nationwide.  Our physicians and researchers are assisted by scores of pediatric specialists, including specially trained nurses, technicians and child life specialists to ensure each child is provided the specialized care they need and deserve.

While quality, state-of-the-art care is critical in treating cancer, we also understand the importance of not only treating the patient’s body, but the mind and spirit as well.  Our patients have access to a variety of complementary medicine services through St. John’s Center for Living. Center for Living services include, massage therapy, acupuncture, yoga, Tai Chi and a variety of wellness classes.  In addition, the Cancer Institute sponsors cancer support groups and partners with the American Cancer Society to bring their resources to patients and families through the Patient Resource Center, located on the first floor of the Pavilion building.  Our mission is to provide patients with cancer with access to cutting edge treatment options provided by a highly qualified team of professionals within a compassionate and caring environment to treat the body, mind, and spirit.
