Specialty Services

Inpatient Sleep Disorders Team
This team identifies hospitalized patients suspected of having obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). These patients are evaluated by a member of the Sleep Disorders Team and receive education, an appointment for an outpatient sleep study and a follow-up visit with their primary care physician.

Pre-operative Outpatient OSA Screenings
An estimated 10 percent of surgery patients have un-diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA can create post-operative complications. If the patient is deemed at-risk for OSA before surgery, precautions are taken. Prior to discharge, the patient’s primary care physician is notified so an outpatient sleep study and follow-up visit can be scheduled.

Pap Naps
Adjusting to the mask for a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine can be difficult. If you or someone you know is having difficulty, St. John's Sleep Center can help. Our PAP Naps are shorter evaluation sessions that provide education, as well as a professional, to give advice on what kind of mask will work best for you. These two- to five-hour sessions at the Sleep Center allow participants to "nap" with a mask on in the facility. A physician referral is needed for this service.

St. John’s Sleep Center is located in HSHS St. John's Health Center on South 6th Street. The Sleep Center conducts studies on Sunday through Friday nights.
